Auntie Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Gel *Review*

Hello beauties, I know its been a while. I’m really sorry. I’ve been super busy. Moved to a new state, searching for a new home in the new state, and recently my husband and I find out that I’m EXPECTING!!! Super excited about our new addition to our family.

Any-hoo, enough about that. Lets discuss what I’ve been up to with my hair. I recently received a free product to try. Flaxseed gel by “Auntie Jackie’s: copy/paste

So, I figured I’d try it out!

“Auntie Jackie’s don’t shrink flaxseed gel”

  • Flaxseed offers a natural remedy for hair growth, anti-thinning, and overall scalp health
  • For natural curls, coils, and waves
  • Enriched with shea butter and extra virgin olive oil
  • Sulfate-free; paraben-free; no Mineral Oil; No Petrolatum

Aqua, Glycerin, Carbomer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Linum Usitatissimum Seed Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Polysorbate 20, Parfum, EDTA, Magnesium Nitrate, Phenoxyethanol, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional

It’s summer, and its a gel…so why not. Best time try a “non shrinkage gel.” Right? I picked to use this product purposely the day we where going to the dog park. I was  going to be outside all day, in the sun on a 80 degree day with little humidity, why not.🙂

I styled my hair the night before in twist on freshly washed hair, slightly damp. I applied coconut and vitamin e oil, then the gel. The gel I applied in the section I was about to twist.

  • Product goes on nice.
  • Not sticky
  • Light smell of pineapples
  • Doesn’t leave the hair super moist
  • Left my hair soft, shiny, and bouncy
  • Great curl defintion
  • No crunch
  • No flakes

I really must invest in a good quality camera. So I can record the amount of volume my hair had. “shake, shake”

  • My hair shrink (LOL)
  • Smell was a bit over powering after the day went by

Check out my baby bump!

Later that night I twist my hair in 6 big chunks, and clip it up in the attempt to stretch my hair a little. I didn’t comb my hair, only twist.

My hair stretched, it wasn’t too much of a hot day. Hair did shrink a bit. Photo above was the final look.

Overall, I like this product. My hair was never left hard, no flakiness, or crunch. The smell minimized the next day. I applied a bit of Jasmine oil as well. This gel would probably make hair look amazing on a lovely 60 degree day, with zero humidity

I would absolutely use this product again.

  • Twist-outs
  • Braid-outs
  • Bantu Knots
  • Wash n gos
  • Twist downs
  • Braid downs

PS,  This product can be used on wet or dry hair.

I will keep you all posted on the next results. I want to use this product when the weather gets cooler.

Thanks for visiting!

Hey, loves! Hope all is well. I’ve been pretty down in the dumps lately. For those that don’t know. I grew up in The windy city, (Chicago), and currently live in Indio California, aka the DESERT!  I’ve only been here a little over a month, and I’m super depressed. I’m living the desert… its too freaking hot, too far from home, too far from the people I love. So with that said, my husband and I are currently packing it up, and moving back home.

I’m very, no…EXTREMELY happy to get back to my home, my love ones, and dig into some deep dish pizza.😉 Hopefully, I can finally stay put, and make a family of my own.

Wish us luck!

Looking forward to getting back to beauties on hair ideas.

Much love!

Rosewater & Vegetable Glycerine Spray

Happy Spring, everyone!!! I wanna jump right in and discuss vegetable glycerine. The warm days are coming, and that means humidity will play a BIG factor in our lives for few months. For me, Im in a arid climate so Vegetable Glycerine is on my list to stay.

VEGTABLE  GLYCERINE: is a clear, odorless liquid produced from plant oils, typically palm oil, soy, or coconut oil.

On the general side, women with tightly curled hair find glycerin very beneficial. It is an excellent natural moisturizer because of its ability to absorb and keep moisture.

BENEFITS: Some Naturals may agree, others not so much or at all. There are some benefits of Vegetable glycerine.

  • Glycerin improves natural hair moisture and elasticity.
  • It also helps prevent hair breakage.
  • It stimulates hair growth.
  • It improves hair strength.
  •  It makes a great conditioner for brittle, dry or frizzy hair.

How to: rosewater and vegetable glycerin mix:

TIP: using too much vegetable glycerine can make hair sticky, and may dry it out more. Glycerin is affected by weather conditions notably humidity and heat. It can be difficult to get consistent results. Mixing with water works best. It is highly soluble in water which makes it most effective as a leave in. Rinsing out not so good.

So this mix is meant as a refresher for the hair. Use during styling, or a moisturizer for night time prepping.

This is the best way to use it, at least for me. And its only a few simple steps.

YOU’LL NEED: bottle of rosewater and glycerine.

  1. 1 tsp of vegetable glycerin into the rosewater.
  2. Shake it up
  3. and spray

Thats it! Super simple! This can be used as tone for the face, as well as a hair spritzer.

Hope this helps you beauties! And check out a previous post on humectants:

Shopping for vegetable glycerine, I prefer The Mane Choice brand. The price is more reasonable and its 100% pure.

Thanks for visiting, happy spring
